OUR MATERIALS
Ever wondered what makes our gold jewelry different to other jewelry brands?
✧ Tarnish Resistant, does not flake off, rub off, or turn colors
✧ Contains a minimum of 5% solid gold by weight
✧ Recycled gold and ethically sourced
✧ The color of our gold-filled jewelry has a more 'rosy yellow' shade (looks similar to solid gold) rather than only yellow
✧ Hypoallergenic and sensitive-skin friendly
We work with 14K Gold-filled which is the best quality alternative to solid gold and legally requires 5% pure gold by weight. It is manufactured by pressure bonding layers of 14k solid gold with extreme heat. Our jewelry is therefore tarnish resistant and won’t easily change color as with traditional gold plated or gold vermeil jewelry. You will notice that the color of our jewelry looks like high quality solid gold rather than yellow cheap looking gold.
Our Gold Fill is hypoallergenic and sensitive-skin friendly. Last but certainly not least we work with recycled gold and we ensure that our materials are sourced as ethically as possible.
Do we stamp our Gold jewelry?
It is a legal requirement to stamp, where possible, items that are gold-filled. You will see 'GF 14/20' or '1/20 14k GF' indicating the item is 14k gold-filled and 1/20 of gold by weight. However, not all items are big enough to stamp such as our Baby Hoops.
What's the difference to gold-plated/vermeil jewelry?
Gold plated jewelry are normally brass, nickel or zinc based and has a very thin layer of gold.
Gold vermeil jewelry are made with a sterling silver base and often have a thicker layer of gold compared to gold plated jewelry.
Both gold plated and gold vermeil jewelry have the gold 'painted on' or 'flash dipped' which makes them less durable compared to gold filled jewelry but more affordable.
Gold filled jewelry on the other hand has a thick layer of gold "melted" on where the gold is heat bonded to the base layer which makes them last a lifetime with proper care.
Sterling silver has a minimum purity of 92.5%, the highest purity suitable for jewelry. 7.5% of it usually contains copper and zinc. Because of the added alloys, sterling silver is much more durable than pure silver. Contrary to other materials, the layer of tarnish on top of sterling silver can be removed. To keep sterling silver shiny, keep away from water and harsh chemicals such as detergent, lotions, and perfumes. If you are careful, frequent use of sterling silver jewelry prevents the buildup of tarnish and dust on the metal; so don't be afraid of wearing it too often!
We are proud to say that we work with recycled silver that is ethically sourced.
Sterling Silver is also stamped to demonstrate that it is real silver. The stamps usually are "925", "92.5", or ".925".
The jewelry pieces come along with natural crystals that are carefully chosen for each and every design. Since we are using natural stones while hand crafting your jewelry. the shades of the stones might vary from the stones in our pictures. Especially our jewelry pieces carrying Tourmalines, since those beautiful stones have many different shades such as pink, yellow, brown, or green. Each stone has its own healing energy and meaning, so we make sure to add a little information card in every order with the relevant explanation.
We actively source gemstones that are conflict free and we are constantly working closely with our suppliers to improve the process of transparency.
